By decarbonizing the supply chain before competitors, the market will be less crowded and it will be easier to sell lower-carbon products to customers and gain market share. Also, investors tend to give higher valuations to companies with a lower carbon footprint. Finally, by starting before others, it will also be easier to secure access to raw materials that may be limited, such as recycled aluminum or green steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Roadmap for supply chain decarbonization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Build a foundation.<\/strong>\u00a0When it comes to baselines, perfect is the enemy of good. Winning companies start by establishing a GHG emissions baseline based on weight or expenses and then improve the baseline over time by incorporating value chain assessments and adding real-time supplier emissions data to enable continuous monitoring of progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OEM\u2019ler i\u00e7in temel emisyon kaynaklar\u0131 genellikle pil h\u00fccreleri, \u00e7elik, al\u00fcminyum, re\u00e7ineler ve lojistiktir; se\u00e7ilmi\u015f 1. For example, it would not make sense for a company to start with electric truck systems or green air transportation because these are not yet readily available in the market. At the same time, it might be possible to implement recycled materials more quickly and without a major cost impact, for example, or it might be worth considering green fuel shipping, which is starting to become available as shipping players start to help reduce emissions by offering methanol-based shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In each case, leaders start by identifying which of the many levers will be cost-effective and all other trade-offs such as technology, customer preferences and technical specifications. Leverages that are cost-neutral can be deployed more quickly in a cost-effective manner. For example, if they want to use recycled aluminum, when will it become available and when will they need to substitute it? Will a particular decarbonization measure be available in the next three years, and if so, can it be incorporated into the next vehicle generation? Or if a decarbonization measure may take longer, it may be better to consider it for the next platform (platform development cycles typically last around 15 years).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With all this information, the supplier meticulously created a phased roadmap based on cost, availability of the technology or solution, where in the cycle it should be implemented and the customer's willingness to pay for it. Using this information, it determines the sequence of actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Embed supply chain decarbonization into the business model.<\/strong>\u00a0Leading firms are redesigning their operations to establish cross-functional linkages and ensure that core processes, supplier engagement and technology support supply chain decarbonization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best teams embed decarbonization into all core processes (e.g. strategic planning, new product development) so they can strike the right balances between carbon footprint, cost, performance and customer experience. They first focus on strategic suppliers with the highest carbon reduction potential, then align with customers and collaborate across the entire value chain to decarbonize the product.
